Pain Management in Richardson, TX

Clearway Pain Solutions treats chronic and acute pain from our Richardson clinic on the President George Bush Turnpike, serving Richardson, Plano, Garland, Sachse, Allen, Rowlett and Wylie. The approach here is diagnostic first. Before we treat pain we work out what is producing it, because the same symptom can come from several different structures and each one responds to something different.

Back Pain Treatment in Richardson

Back and neck pain is one of the most common reasons patients come to a pain clinic. Low back pain can originate in a herniated or degenerating disc, in the facet joints that run along the back of the spine, in the sacroiliac joint at the base of the spine, in the spinal canal when it narrows, or in muscle and soft tissue that has been carrying the load for something else.

Our physician examines you, reviews your imaging, and where the source is unclear uses a diagnostic injection to confirm which structure is responsible before committing you to a longer course of treatment. Depending on what that shows, the plan may involve epidural steroid injections, facet joint injections, sacroiliac joint injections, radiofrequency ablation, physical therapy, medication management or a combination of those.

Neck pain and pain that radiates into the shoulder, arm or hand follow the same path. Our condition library covers cervical radiculopathy and disc displacement in detail.

Serving Plano, Garland and Northeast Dallas

The clinic sits on the President George Bush Turnpike in northeast Richardson, which puts it within a few miles of Plano to the north and Garland to the south and makes it practical for patients across southern Collin County and northeast Dallas County. It is convenient for patients in Plano, Garland, Sachse, Allen, Rowlett and Wylie.

Conditions We Treat

Chronic pain that has lasted longer than three months, and acute pain from a recent injury. Sciatica and radiating leg pain. Joint pain in the knees, hips, shoulders and elbows, including osteoarthritis and bursitis. Nerve pain and peripheral neuropathy, including diabetic neuropathy. Spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease. Headaches and migraine. Pelvic pain. Cancer related pain. Pain that has persisted after spine surgery or another operation. Pain following a motor vehicle accident or a workplace injury.

Our condition library explains each of these in more depth.

Mani Hashemi, MD

Dr. Hashemi is one of the few physicians in the country double board certified in Emergency Medicine and Interventional Pain Medicine. He graduated with honors from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and earned his medical degree with honors from St. George’s University School of Medicine. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency at Kendall Regional Medical Center in Miami, where he was Chief Resident, then an ACGME accredited fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at the University of Illinois in Chicago.

His fellowship training covers fluoroscopic and ultrasound guided injections, neuromodulation and minimally invasive spinal interventions. The emergency medicine half of his background matters more than it might sound: years in Level 1 trauma centers gave him direct experience with pain from falls, crashes and work injuries, and with what happens to patients who spend a long time being told nothing is wrong. His approach is multidisciplinary, combining education, medication where appropriate, physical therapy and rehabilitation, and minimally invasive interventions.

Dr. Hashemi also sees patients at our Addison clinic. Read his full profile.

Your First Visit

We respond to appointment requests within 24 hours. Verifying your benefits and getting you on the schedule usually takes about five days from that first contact, and first appointments are typically available 7 to 12 days out.

Before the visit you will get an email or text from Phreesia with your new patient paperwork. Plan to arrive 45 minutes early as a new patient. Bring an unexpired government issued photo ID, your insurance cards, a referral from your primary care provider if your plan requires one, records from any previous pain physician, and any recent imaging or reports you have.

The first appointment is an evaluation, not a procedure. Expect a physical exam, a full history of the pain, a review of the imaging and records you bring, and a conversation about what the pain is stopping you from doing. The goal is for you to leave with a working diagnosis and a first step.

Yes. The clinic is a few miles from Plano and is convenient for patients in Plano, Garland, Sachse, Allen and Wylie.

We respond to appointment requests within 24 hours. Insurance verification and scheduling generally take about five days, and first appointments are usually available 7 to 12 days after that. Tell us when you call if your pain is severe or escalating.

Not always. Many patients come on a referral from a primary care physician, an orthopedist or a surgeon, but some plans allow you to schedule directly. Check with your insurer and bring the referral if your plan requires one.

Herniated and degenerating discs, facet joint arthritis, spinal stenosis, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, sciatica, muscle and soft tissue pain, and back pain that has continued after spine surgery. Identifying which of these is driving your pain is the first step.

A physical exam, a detailed history, a review of any imaging you bring, and a discussion of options. The goal is for you to leave with a working diagnosis and a first step. Procedures are scheduled at a later visit.

Not as a matter of course. Medication is one part of a pain management plan and often a small one. Many patients are treated with injections, nerve procedures, physical therapy or a combination. Your physician will discuss the options, the risks and the alternatives before prescribing anything.
