Sophia Leonard-Burns, PA-C
Sophia is a long time Maryland resident. She graduated from Bowie High School in 1981. Sophia then became a Certified Medical Assistant in 1984. While working she continued to advance her medical career, studying to complete the Physician’s Assistant Program. Sophia graduated in 1990 from George Washington University. Sophia’s recognition to date includes a NCCPA Gold Seal Certification. In 1990 she had a publication in the AAPA Journal, 7-02.
She then began working as a Physician Assistant in the Emergency department at Anne Arundel Medical Center. After 8 years of working in the ER, Sophia decided to switch and treat patients in the Primary Care setting. Sophia practiced family medicine at Annapolis Primary Care from 1998-2001. While working in Primary Care, she continued to work part time at Shipley’s Choice After Hours.
In 2001, Sophia began working with Physical Medicine and Pain Management Associates focusing in physical medicine. Sophia has now been in this field for over 15 years. Sophia currently specializes in musculoskeletal medicine and spine care. She performs therapeutic injections including trigger point, Botox, joint injections, medication management, and alternative treatments.
